<br />City Council Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 3, 2007 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />He said that it is funded and the City isn't getting the results then at the end of the year it <br />would be time to 'play hard ball'. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming said that the 2008 Citizen Survey would have questions on it that <br />would help with determining the effectiveness of the campaign. <br /> <br />Ms. Hogan said that the subcommittee would be meeting again to go over the <br />information and set priorities along with the Finance Department. She also said that <br />there had been a discussion about ZVC hosting the website versus the City h .ng the <br />website. <br /> <br />Councilor Sackett said he thought before the City committed to funding the am <br />requested, it needed to be determined if the business community re . Iy wanted it. e <br />talked about his experience with Kohls and they said they would part . ate, but that they <br />still aren't signed up nor have they put the "Shop Louisville" stickers in eir windows. <br />City Manager Fleming said that one part of the matrix could be how ma of the <br />businesses visited have signed up. <br /> <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton said that he felt that City needed to support t ampaign regardless if <br />the Chamber of Commerce or the Downtown Bus. ess Association (DBA) supported it <br />monetarily. <br /> <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming asked the representatives of the hamber of Commerce and the <br />DBA what their thoughts were about the campaign and the proposed budget. Ms. Laureti <br />said that the Chamber has placed the decals in their windows and have advertised it in <br />their newsletter, but she did not feel i a good investment. She said that the <br />Chamber of Commerce is made up . of volunteers and that they are not in a <br />position to spend time or resources ampaign. Mr. Keany said that the DBA <br />supports the campaign but unofficially it would be hard to support financially. He said <br />that the DBA provides res s through downtown improvements. He said that he <br />thought that the campaig od for local businesses and they may be willing to pay <br />a nominal fee to assist wi ost. He also added that every type of business should <br />be allowed to list 0 he site, which is the not the case currently. <br /> <br />Ms. Hogan aske <br />Mr. Pritchard. <br /> <br /> <br />s. Borelli set up the next subcommittee meeting and to include <br /> <br />RETENTION VISIT UPDATE <br />Councilor Dalton said that the visit to Medtronics went well. He said that they are now a <br />for profit company and may need to expand. If they decided to expand the decision will <br />be to expand in their current location or to find new space. Councilor Dalton said that <br />they like the current location which is next to retail. Councilor Dalton said that he told <br />them about the Business Assistance Program if they decide to expand. <br /> <br />Councilor Sackett said that this is the type of company that the City needs to retain. <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton said the people at Rock Bottom are happy with their location and that <br />they have no expansion planned. <br />
