City Council Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
February 5, 2007

. Determine which businesses need to be visited (largest employers, largest sales
tax earners, new to town)

Should members of the DBA or Chamber find a business they feel needs a visit from a
City Council member; they should contact Muth with that information. The DBA and
Chamber can also let Muth know which businesses they are visiting.

Members discussed the role of the Business Congress in retention visits. A
subcommittee of Yarnell, Caranci, and Lathrop will meet to give the Committee a
recommendation on the overall role of the Congress at the March meeting.

SHOP LOUISVILLE GIFT CARD PROGRAM UPDATE
Brown noted that it looks like it will take $11,000 to get the Shop Louisville program up
and going. He asked the Chamber and DBA to discuss with their members if this is a
program they will support and if this is an appropriate way to spend business
development funds. The Chamber will set up a membership meeting at which BRaD
members can explain the program for businesses and take feedback.

Lehman noted that there is no hurry to initiate the project and it is better to have
business support and wait longer than to start the program without it.

DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

. Development Review Fees & Process
. Business Congress

ADJOURN

The meeting adjourned at 10:10 AM.
