<br />Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />October 3, 2007 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />C. Visitors Report and Tours <br />September - 205 <br />Year to Date - 1 ,125 <br />1. The classes of 1947 and 1957 toured the Museum as part of their <br />class reunions. <br />2. Second grade students, teachers, and parents from Coal Creek <br />Elementary toured the Museum. <br />D. Activity Report <br />1 . Elle Cabbage arranged for the purchase of more copies of Carolyn <br />Conarroe's third book, Louisville Legends, for resale. After this, the <br />Commission will have to make arrangements for more printings. <br />2. A problem with the Museum's digital camera is being repaired by <br />Canon at no charge. <br />3. The Fall Louisville Historian will be coming out with articles by <br />Harry Mayor and with the theme of streets in Louisville. <br />4. The pump and faucet are to be placed on the Museum campus in <br />the spring. <br />E. Request to Purchase Sanborn Maps <br />1. Sanborn maps were fire insurance maps made all over the United <br />States in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Melanie Muckle of the <br />Historic Preservation Commission is tracking down color copies of <br />Louisville's Sanborn maps that would show what materials the <br />buildings were constructed of and could be kept at the Museum. <br />2. The Commission approved the purchase of four maps from the <br />years 1893, 1900, and 1908 on a CD, which could then be printed <br />out, at a cost of $200. <br /> <br />IX. Committee Reports <br />A. Facility Management <br />1. The porch and steps of the Tomeo House are to be completed <br />within two weeks. <br />2. Pruning of the trees behind the Tomeo House has been <br />completed. <br />3. Museum Campus fencing: <br />a. Bids: aluminum - $12,500; wrought iron - $20,000 <br />b. Don Ross will contact Brian Martella regarding a bid for fencing. <br />c. The City of Louisville can pay for fencing and the Commission <br />can pay the City back by September 2008. <br />4. Landscaping <br />a. The following items are ready to be moved: the punching <br />machine will be next to the Museum, the cement mixer will be <br />moved next to the outhouse, and the forge and safes will also <br />be moved. <br />5. Benches <br />a. Based on previous Commission discussions, the suggestion <br />was made that there be four wood composite benches: one in <br />
