Boulder Rd. Kathy Kron said it was still crusher fine, but lighter color and that
crusher fine is capable of many different `looks'. Tom noted that the crusher fine
was deep and no longer compacted last time he was there. Aaron was curious
about Davidson Mesa social ~krails. These were laid out by National Trails Day
and public wanted it singlE; track. Aaron said it is getting badly eroded. Ember
will have to look into it anti m,ay suggest it for another National Trail Day project.
Larry notes some ruts on 'the west area that look like car tracks. Ember said
there has been some illegal clriving there. Code enforcement tries to monitor it
and staff does not use it. Tom thinks that the priorities are just right. Ember will
start working on 2008 trail alignments and material and will bring it back to us for
approval. It is noted that i:he board agrees with the seven locations as
presented. Truman asked ak>out larger regional connectivity. Ember said some
of the connections are already underway and will send us a picture of the link to
Rock Creek being done now. Kathy Kron has an old list of trails within city that
should be revisited and could) involve local private businesses: CTC, hospital.
Tom noted that partnerships are very helpful financially.
Scheduling and Discus~~ior~ Topics for Joint Meeting with Broomfield
Ember talked to Kriistin Fritz and came up with some potential dates: Sept
10 or 25th. They are flexik~le on location and topics. The board prefers to do the
10th here. Topics: trail connectivity, the mall, Scrifney, 36 corridor, what is their
mission and function, corrrmunication with their city, best practices, identifying
mutually interesting properties (Conoco campus). Noted there is a sliver of
Broomfield open space along 36 and before Conoco. Speculation to whether
there will be land dedication 1`rom Conoco and could be topic. This would also be
a good topic for joint meeiting with city council.
Bret wants to know what Broomfield's plans are surrounding Conoco are if they
will become more dense from retail.
Draft Recommendation:c for the Planning Department
Truman asked if we need an official position when we didn't have a
resolution at the last meeiting. Spencer asked if the planning dept wanted our
comments. Ember confirmed that both are true. Truman has three points from
that meeting 1. OSAB recommends preserving the riparian area along the
Goodhue ditch, maintaining the current water flow and not diverting, not to
remove trees where necessary. 2. We agree that natural corridor along
southern border provides connectivity and buffer. 3. Southwest corner of
dedication did not have significant value of an open space property and we would
prefer more riparian area. Tom thinks the water goes through the ditch w/o
benefit to the tree and that artificial irrigation to trees is possible. He hesitates to
mandate what happens on the private property ie ditch. Spencer asked if it has
value as open space regardiing water and trail maintenance. It will require a lot of
work. Linda thinks it doe:> hold value and wants the ditch preserved as is and
notes that the water is not just for trees, but also wildlife and there is a known owl
living there. Nature is mussy and it is natural state.
