<br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />May 27, 2008 <br />Page 7 of 7 <br /> <br />Chief Goodman said that electronic speed indicators are effective if placed in the <br />proper locations but added that the indicator on Dillon and St. Andrews is an <br />example of a poorly positioned speed indicator. Director Phare said that he likes <br />the electronic speed indicators as well and that they were relatively inexpensive. <br /> <br />Councilor Muckle inquired about enforcement at pedestrian crossings. Chief <br />Goodman said that he had a staff meeting about the crossing at McCaslin into <br />the open space area and that they would be monitoring that area more closely. <br /> <br />7. City Manager Items- <br />City Manager Fleming said that with the aftermath of the tornado in Windsor, he <br />and Chief Goodman had discussed emergency notification. <br /> <br />Chief Goodman said that currently there is not emergency alarm system in <br />Louisville. He said Comcast will do crawlers (information along the bottom of the <br />TV screen) and NOAH which is an emergency weather alert for radio broadcasts. <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton asked if there was any data on the likelihood of a tornado hitting <br />in Louisville. <br /> <br />Chief Goodman said that he didn't know of any, but said that the system being <br />considered is for any emergency, hazardous waste, train derailment, etc. and <br />has a siren with a live voice message. He said for 3 sirens the cost would be <br />$80,000 to $85,000 or $100,000 for all of Louisville. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming reviewed the Advanced Agenda <br />7.
