RESOLUTION N0.26 <br />SERIES 2008 <br />A Resolution Endorsing the U.S. 36 Preferred Alternative Committee Recommendation <br />June 17, 2008 <br />WHEREAS the Colorado Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation District, Federal Highway Administration, Federal <br />Transit Administration and stakeholders are evaluating transportakion improvements for the U.S. 36 Corridor through an Environmental <br />Impact Statement (EIS); and <br />WHEREAS the public, after reviewing the transportation packages analyzed in the Draft EIS, requested that the agencies adopt an <br />alternative in the final environmental document that minimized community and environmental impacts while achieving long-terrn <br />transportation needs; and <br />WHEREAS the agencies and local municipalities established a Preferred Alternative Committee (PAC) to reach a consensus <br />recommendation for U.S. 36 transportation improvements by selecting a combination of elements that were already studied within the <br />draft document; and <br />WHEREAS the City of Louisville participated as a member of the PAC and, as the committee, reached consensus on amulti- <br />modal recommendation that achieves the public's desire as identified above; the consensus agreement is detailed in the attached <br />recommendation; and <br />WHEREAS this agreement identifies a combination alternative that will undergo additional analysis requested by agencies and <br />stakeholders to verify that the selected elements effectively perform and achieve the project's goals. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVE D that the Louisville City Council supports the conclusion and policy direction <br />adopted by the PAC, recognizing that pending further analysis, this recommendation will be refined to identify a Preferred Alternative <br />that will be carried through the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that t he _ Louisville City Council _ supports development of a phasing and financing <br />plan focused on accelerating congestion relief by constructing useful components that improve transit time consistent with the <br />preferred alternative.
