Unanimous. <br />AUTHORIZATION TO OBTAIN BIDS FOR PIRATES PARK <br />IMPROVEMENTS Lillo explained that in the 1988 Capital <br />Improvements Program $30,000 was provided for the <br />improvements to Pirates Park. Improvements include <br />installation of a new irrigation system, tennis <br />court resurfacing, replacement of tennis court <br />windscreens and miscellaneous landscape improvements <br />to the park. Plans and specifications have been <br />prepared by staff on the installation of the <br />irrigation system and for miscellaneous landscape <br />improvements including installing of planter boxes, <br />plant material, sod and seeding. The engineer's <br />estimate for this work is $19,700. Resurfacing of <br />the tennis courts will occur later this year with <br />the remaining funds. Staff requests authorization <br />for the Community Services Department to obtain bids <br />for installation of the Pirates Park irrigation <br />system and miscellaneous landscape improvements. <br />Carnival asked to what extent the tennis courts will <br />be resurfaced with the remaining funds. Lillo <br />stated that there will be sufficient funds to <br />perform a seal coat of the courts. The irrigation <br />system is the top priority and the seal coating of <br />the tennis courts i;s the second priority. <br />Mayor Fauson moved and Szymanski seconded to approve <br />authorization to bid the Pirates Parks improvements. <br />Unanimous. <br />CDBG LETTER OF INTENT Wanush explained th<~t in order to be eligible for <br />State Community Devc=_lopment Block Grant Funds, a <br />letter of intent st<~ting that the City intends to <br />submit a full application at a later date must be <br />submitted to the St<~te. Staff is asking Council to <br />authorize the Mayor to sign a letter stating that <br />the Cities of Lafayette and Louisville intend to <br />request economic development funds to continue and <br />expand the existing Revolving Loan Fund. <br />Mohr commented that in terms of economic development <br />this has been one oi: the most successful programs <br />that the City has sESen and that the State has <br />witnessed. He also stated that the joint effort <br />between the two cities has been very constructive <br />and strongly recommESnds approval. <br />8 <br />
