INFORMATION ONLY - 1987 SAFE DRINKING <br />WATER ACT Phare explained the: 1987 Safe Drinking Water Act <br />was a major package of legislation that had <br />sweeping impacts on drinking water standards <br />across the United States. A major portion of that <br />legislation relaited to water quality and in <br />particular the health effects of long term <br />exposure to trace amount of lead, the EPA has <br />taken a strong stand on water consumers being <br />notified of the potential health effects of lead <br />consumption. A brochure for insertion in utility <br />bills has been designed to meet the legal <br />requirements of the' 1987 Safe Drinking Water Act <br />and contain ini=ormation on the City of <br />Louisville's drinking water. <br />The Public Works Department continues to monitor <br />water quality and takes very seriously the <br />responsibilities of providing the safest drinking <br />water possible. Corrosion studies include water <br />quality monitoring and improvements in water <br />quality.
