06/02/87 <br />As a result of the Water Attorney's opinion, Phare <br />recommends that th~.e City relay the concerns of <br />trash and debris i:n and around the ditches to the <br />ditch companies and ask them to consider the <br />removal of same. Some areas are not accessible to <br />dump trucks and make clean up in some areas very <br />difficult. Phare iEeels it important to keep a <br />good line of communication open between the City <br />and the ditch companies and try to resolve the <br />problem in a mutually acceptable fashion. Council <br />directed Phare to pursue this type of cooperative <br />effort. <br />UPDATE - HARPER LAKE Krisko explained that on Thursday, May 28th, a <br />special staff meeting was held to identify both <br />immediate and long term plans of action to deal <br />with the problems the City is experiencing at <br />Harper Lake/Leon W~url Sanctuary. The following <br />immediate actions will be taken: 1) improve <br />signage and information availability at Harper <br />Lake; 2) step up enforcement; 3) utilize community <br />services workers to aid in cleanup efforts; 4) <br />increase the number of trash receptacles; 5) <br />install anchors four trash cans, sanolets, <br />dumpsters, etc. to make the area more vandal <br />proof; and 6) imprc>ve public awareness regarding <br />Harper Lake. In tree long term, City Council and <br />staff need to clam:fy the competing uses of Harper <br />Lake and the Leon Wurl Sanctuary. This must <br />include discussion with the Division of Wildlife <br />and the establishment of potential new policy <br />directions by the Louisville City Council. <br />The proposed signs are 4 feet by 8 feet. Carnival <br />questioned whether a sign of this size would be <br />needed at the residential side of the lake. The <br />possibility of a smaller sign was discussed and <br />will be considered., <br />DISCUSSION OF PREFERRED CORRIDORS <br />FOR W-470 Hundley stated that: at its April 16th Work <br />Session, Council hard the opportunity to meet with <br />the consulting firm of Felsburg Holt & Ullevig <br />regarding alternative W-470 alignments. Two <br />remaining corridor alternatives for W-470 between <br />Louisville and Broomfield were presented to <br />Council. On May 2Gth, the City sponsored a public <br />information meeting regarding these alternative W- <br />470 corridors. Based upon these two meetings, <br />Alternative A appeared to be the preferred corri- <br />dor. Hundley stated that it would be useful for <br />the City to convey to the W-470 consultants and <br />the neighboring communities as to the preferred <br />corridor. <br />10 <br />
