06/02/87
As a result of the Water Attorney's opinion, Phare
recommends that th~.e City relay the concerns of
trash and debris i:n and around the ditches to the
ditch companies and ask them to consider the
removal of same. Some areas are not accessible to
dump trucks and make clean up in some areas very
difficult. Phare iEeels it important to keep a
good line of communication open between the City
and the ditch companies and try to resolve the
problem in a mutually acceptable fashion. Council
directed Phare to pursue this type of cooperative
effort.
UPDATE - HARPER LAKE Krisko explained that on Thursday, May 28th, a
special staff meeting was held to identify both
immediate and long term plans of action to deal
with the problems the City is experiencing at
Harper Lake/Leon W~url Sanctuary. The following
immediate actions will be taken: 1) improve
signage and information availability at Harper
Lake; 2) step up enforcement; 3) utilize community
services workers to aid in cleanup efforts; 4)
increase the number of trash receptacles; 5)
install anchors four trash cans, sanolets,
dumpsters, etc. to make the area more vandal
proof; and 6) imprc>ve public awareness regarding
Harper Lake. In tree long term, City Council and
staff need to clam:fy the competing uses of Harper
Lake and the Leon Wurl Sanctuary. This must
include discussion with the Division of Wildlife
and the establishment of potential new policy
directions by the Louisville City Council.
The proposed signs are 4 feet by 8 feet. Carnival
questioned whether a sign of this size would be
needed at the residential side of the lake. The
possibility of a smaller sign was discussed and
will be considered.,
DISCUSSION OF PREFERRED CORRIDORS
FOR W-470 Hundley stated that: at its April 16th Work
Session, Council hard the opportunity to meet with
the consulting firm of Felsburg Holt & Ullevig
regarding alternative W-470 alignments. Two
remaining corridor alternatives for W-470 between
Louisville and Broomfield were presented to
Council. On May 2Gth, the City sponsored a public
information meeting regarding these alternative W-
470 corridors. Based upon these two meetings,
Alternative A appeared to be the preferred corri-
dor. Hundley stated that it would be useful for
the City to convey to the W-470 consultants and
the neighboring communities as to the preferred
corridor.
10
