Phare stated that many alternatives were discussed and the
conclusion was that this was the lighting standard that was most
ap~,ropriate. These lights are consistent with the street lights on
Sot.th Boulder Road.

Aud.rey Eastwood, Public Service, stated that some of the luminaries
on McCaslin are not level. They will be realigned. To correct the
sp~lling of the light into the resident's yards, she suggested
trying a different brand of streetlight head and decreasing its
si2e. They did a computer run on lowering the light pole and it
mad.e the uniformity of the light falling on the roadway
considerably worse.

Mayer stated that there are different standards for commercial and
res. idential areas and this seems to be the same spacing. He stated
that either we're under lighting the commercial areas or over
liq'hting the residential areas.

Eas~twood:

We'll be glad to take a look at
that.

Ho%'ard wondered what the difference would be between using
rectilinear vs. cobra heads.

Eas~twood explained that with the rectilinear the light
classification would be the same as the cobra head and the
rectilinear is a more expensive fixture than the cobra head.

Ho%'ard wondered about the view blockage, when the poles would be
painted, and if that was the only acceptable spacing.

Eas~twood stated that that is the spacing that was established for
that section of the roadway. They will try and paint in the late
su~er and early fall. She wanted to try a different type of
streetlight head and lowering the bulb wattage to correct the
problem.

Keany wondered if the wattage would be enough light to keep
McCaslin safe for joggers, walkers, bikers, and traffic.

Eas~twood: Yes.

Phare wanted to reactivate the streetlight installation with the
und.erstanding that they will modify the luminaries in the vicinity
of Via Appia and McCaslin by brand name and by wattage on the
lamps.

Howard wanted the computer printout, so he could show the
ne~.ghborhood prior to the continuation of installation.

Ryplewski agreed.

3
