RESOLUTION NO. 26 <br />SERIES 2016 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE LOUISVILLE CITY COUNCIL URGING <br />THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT (RTD) TO BUILD THE <br />NORTHWEST RAIL LINE FROM WESTMISNTER TO LONGMONT <br />WHEREAS, Louisville voters approved an increase in the Regional <br />Transportation District (RTD) sales tax of 0.4% in 2004 to the fund the RTD Fastracks <br />plan that would serve the Denver metro area, and <br />WHEREAS, RTD is currently constructing the NW Rail line (B Line) from Denver <br />Union Station to Westminster; and <br />WHEREAS, there are still FasTracks projects to be funded including the <br />Northwest Rail from Westminster to Longmont; and <br />WHEREAS, RTD revenues are projected to become available for additional <br />projects or debt financing in 2028. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO, <br />RESOLVES: <br />The Louisville City Council urges RTD to review their financial situation on a regular <br />basis and recommends a financing plan to build out the Northwest Rail Line from 71st <br />and Lowell in Westminster to the end station at 1stAvenue and Main Street in Longmont <br />and complete construction of the rail line prior to 2026. <br />The Louisville City Council urges RTD to work with the communities along the <br />Northwest Rail line to consider initial phasing options for peak hour service in each <br />direction at a significantly lower infrastructure cost prior to full completion by 2026 <br />The Louisville City Council urges the rest of the region to support completion of the <br />Northwest Rail line as well as the remaining projects still be funded as part of the <br />FasTracks Plan approved by voters in 2004. <br />Passed and adopted this 17th day of May, 2016. <br />ATTEST: <br />Carol Hanson, Acting City Clerk <br />Robert P.
