RESOLUTION NO. 37 <br />SERIES 2016 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COLORADO <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE <br />CONCERNING A FASTER SAFETY GRANT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE STATE <br />HIGHWAY 42 AND SHORT STREET PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the State of Colorado through the Colorado Department of Transportation, <br />Division of Transit and Rail ( "CDOT ") administers the Funding Advancement for Surface <br />Transportation and Economic Recovery ( "FASTER ") grant to provide grant funding to improve <br />roadway safety, repair deteriorating bridges and support and expand transit, and such grants are <br />administered by CDOT; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville has applied for and been awarded a FASTER Safety <br />Grant for $500,000 for funding the construction of the State Highway 42 and Short Street Project <br />(hereinafter "the Project "), subject to the execution of a grant contract; and <br />WHEREAS, the parameters of the Project include construction of intersection <br />improvements including utility and drainage improvements and the design of sidewalks, bike lanes, <br />and transit stops near the intersection of State Highway 42 and Short Street, which is the anticipated <br />location for access to the existing Louisville/Lafayette Sports Complex, Louisville Revitalization <br />District, and the proposed Northwest Rail RTD station overflow parking area; and <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to accept such grant and authorize execution of a grant <br />contract for such funds. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />1. The City Council hereby approves that certain Grant Agreement between the <br />Colorado Department of Transportation and the City of Louisville for the FASTER Safety Grant <br />awarded to the City for the State Highway 42 and Short Street Project under Project No. FSA <br />042A -007, in substantially the same form as the copy of such Grant Agreement accompanying this <br />Resolution. <br />2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the Grant Agreement on behalf of the <br />City Council of the City of Louisville, except that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby further <br />authorized to negotiate and approve such revisions to the Grant Agreement as the Mayor or City <br />Manager determines are necessary or desirable for the protection of the City, so long as the essential <br />terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement are not altered. <br />Resolution No. 37, Series 2016 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
