I ` Cityof
r Louisville
PARKS & RECREATION
Memorandum
To: Dean Johnson, Parks Superintendent
From: Allan Gill, RLA, and Park's Project Manager
Date: August 4, 2016
Re: Recreation Center Campus A.D.A. Restroom Improvements,
Status Update
The original projects consisted of two ADA compliant restrooms one to replace the existing restroom at
Heritage Park and a second to be located at the Arboretum site on the Recreation Center Campus.
Unfortunately bids received for the projects were astronomical high which led to the bids being rejected
and the City pursuing a different course of action with the installation of a pre -fabricated restroom.
The Public Works Department has gone to bid with a Sewer Services project and will be bidding a
Water Services project hopefully before this meeting. Contractors bidding these projects can typically
perform Water or Sewer Service work. The ADA Restroom project which now consists of a single
restroom at the Arboretum has been added to the Water Services project in an attempt recognize
better pricing for installation of the water and sewer services as the runs for each is lengthy.
The attached preliminary project schedule outlines the timeline for construction of utilities, the ordering
and manufacture of a pre -fabricated restroom, building permit review, bidding construction services for
installation of the restroom and construction of sidewalks. The entire project is a little over four months
long. A couple of items to keep in mind, the duration of 130 days for the project refers to days of the
week and not the weekends. Also installation of the restroom is tentatively scheduled in January. We
may need to consider bumping installation of the restroom to spring or when the weather is more
favorable.
6
