Many builders are participating in one or more programs of the <br />many environmental protection programs. She cautioned that Louisville be <br />patient for the national codes from Built Green to come out before any action is to <br />be taken. <br /> <br />Mike Jones asked how the other jurisdictions were passing ordinances? <br /> <br />Kim Calamino stated there is a lot of talking now. No ordinances are in place for <br />Longmont. Built green prefers some means of encouragement and incentives to <br />adopt Green Built plans. <br /> <br />There was some discussion about the percentage of testing required with <br />builders of small and large sizes. <br /> <br />Scott Robson asked Green Built how the costs will affect our Building Staff? <br /> <br />Kim Calamino replied that Green Built does an interim visit on insulation, re- <br />verifies building materials, and gives a grade from a point system. A third party <br />verifier checks that the Building Code Inspector did his job. The costs vary. The <br />least expensive cost is @ $650 - 800 per home. <br /> <br />Some discussion made about the confusion of cost with the various projects from <br />condos to single family dwelling homes. <br /> <br />Mike Jones asked of all the 350 units Markel has, will there be 3 to 5 different <br />unit types? <br /> <br />Chad Kipfer said yes, there will be 3 -5 different unit types. <br /> <br />Kim Calamino stated a builder might have to pay those fees at 50 times for all the <br />different types of construction homes over all the different plans. She said it is a <br />great deal of testing. <br /> <br />Some discussion was made about the review time for the specs done by <br />independent inspectors. <br /> <br />Mike Jones stated a small builder like Tom Ramsey will have to add $850 to <br />each home he builds. <br /> <br />Tom Ramsey, introduced himself as a local small builder. He confirmed the facts <br />of the $850 costs he would have to absorb as a builder, and probably not get <br />back at the end of the sale of the home. He stated realtors are just interested in <br />comp pricing and square footage comparison prices. <br /> <br />Bill Eckert stated that there is no pay back for the builders, large or small. <br />
