Board of Adjustment <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 15, 2016 <br />Page 14 of 17 <br />Discussion Items: <br />Proposed Expansion of the Recreation/Senior Center and Upgrades to Memory Square <br />Pool <br />Allan Gill, Parks Project Manager <br />Linda Hodges, Recreation/Senior Center & Aquatics Task Force <br />City Council appointed a Recreation/Senior Center & Aquatics Task Force consisting of 17-18 <br />members including Staff members. We have been working with consultants, Sink Combs <br />Dethlefs, and GreenPlay LLC. Sink Combs Dethlefs is a notable architect firm and has similar <br />projects across the nation. GreenPlay is another consultant but they deal more with feasibility - <br />type studies and surveys. <br />WHY ARE IMPROVEMENTS NECESSARY? <br />I <br />• Cardio and strength fitness space is small and overcrowded <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />Limited recreational and leisure pool area <br />Senior areas are shared with youth programs <br />Locker rooms are too small and lack family change space <br />The population for the City of Louisville has doubled since the facility was built. <br />Recreation/Senior Center Proposed Improve <br />• Expanded parking area <br />• New outdoor pool deck and patio <br />• Relocated playground <br />• New covered senior entry <br />• Landscaping improvements <br />• Trail Connections <br />z1z3001- 87,140u <br />31O F=R. 16.3.5F <br />TOW.
