Historical Commission
Minutes
July 6, 2016
Page 3
Meeting attendees noted that the Citizen Survey results showed that there
is a need to educate the community on what the Museum does for
Louisville. The Commission discussed how the results showed that 9
respondents in 10 awarded high marks to Historical Museum programs and
the overall performance of the Museum, but also show that just 3% of
respondents indicated that expanding the Museum should be considered
one of the top three issues for the City to invest in for the future. 53% of
respondents indicated that expanding the Museum is at least "somewhat
important."
The Commission also discussed the results from another recent survey
showing that a majority of respondents supported the extension of the
Historic Preservation Tax and to have a portion go to the Museum.
D. Update on process to have the Museum campus surveyed and apply for
funding for Historic Structure Assessments on the Museum buildings:
Bridget reported that she is arranging for a surveying firm to survey the
Museum campus, which has not previously been done, and that the
Planning Dept. is funding the survey. Also, the City is applying for funding
for Historic Structure Assessments on the Museum buildings at an HPC
meeting in August.
E. Upcoming dates important to the Commission and Museum:
Upcoming dates important to the Commission are the City Council meeting
on the 12th to discuss the results of the Citizens Survey, and the joint
meeting with the Historic Preservation Commission on August 3rd
IX. Report from the Museum Coordinator:
A. Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors:
The Commission voted to accept the following donations:
1. Bill Ryan — 1943 account balance sheet from Steinbaugh's.
2. Tom Mudrock - digital images of photos; fly rod and related fishing
items from his grandfather, Carlo Damiana.
3. Leo Deborski — photo of a coal mine in this area; ration books; 1958
photo of Louisville volunteer firemen; and a calendar from the Hi -
Way Mine.
City of Louisville
Louisville Historical Museum 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303-665-9048 (phone) 303-335-4550 (fax) www.louisville-library.org
