City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />August 23, 2016 <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />Sustainability Advisory Board <br />Jamie Bartlett, Dan Delahunty, Alison Johanson, Mary Ann Martin, Mark <br />Persichetti <br />Members of Public: Deb Fahey, John Leary <br />Call to Order— The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Mayor Muckle <br />Discussion — City of Lafayette <br />Library Consortium <br />Library Public Services Manager Becky Campbell said Louisville is very happy <br />that Lafayette is joining the Library Consortium. It will be a good joint effort. <br />Other libraries in the consortium are Boulder, Broomfield, and Longmont. There <br />are growing pains but the consortium allows a shared catalog. Council member <br />Stolzmann gave an overview of the Makerspace. <br />Parks, Recreation and Open Space Update <br />Mayor Muckle said the Mayhoffer Farm is of primary interest to the cities of <br />Louisville and Lafayette. City Manager Klaphake said discussions with the <br />Mayhoffers have gone on for years and Louisville and Lafayette are good <br />partners. <br />Buffer Areas Considered in Municipal Comprehensive Plans/Possible <br />Joint Vision for Buffer Area Near Paschal/Highway 42 <br />o Klaphake said this is not a priority for Lafayette. Lafayette has an <br />open space tax. <br />o Mayor Berg gave an overview of Lafayette Open Space tax. <br />Status of Lafayette Soccer Complex at Harney Lastoka Open Space <br />o City Manager Klaphake said Lafayette hoped to share synthetic <br />soccer fields and baseball fields so as not to have duplicate <br />restrooms and concessions. Priorities changed in Lafayette but <br />Lafayette still thinks it is a good idea. <br />o City Manager Fleming talked about intersection improvements at <br />Short Street and Highway 42 that will link the ballfields to the <br />development area east of the tracks and ultimately downtown <br />Louisville with a future underpass. <br />Opportunities for Collaboration in Parks, Recreation, Open Space and <br />Senior services <br />o Mayor Muckle talked about the idea of joining services for senior <br />meals and other areas to collaborate.
