GENERAL FUND

RESPONSES TO COUNCIL'S COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS FROM THE
AUGUST 10 BUDGET WORK SESSION

Human Resources - Administration

Davidson suggested transferring the Volunteer Coordination from Human Resources to Business
Facilitation with Bill Blankenship, Human Resources Officer, remaining in charge of it.

Human Resources - Information Systems

Bill Blankenship, Human Resources Officer, clarified Council's packet information.

Public Safety - Patrol/Investigations

Sisk suggested Bruce Goodman, Police Chief, contact Rep. Skaggs office to see what funds are
available for Louisville from the new crime bill.

Lathrop felt that adding flashing yellow lights (approximately $5,000/pair) in the school zones is very
eff'ective to slow speeders. He thought that allocating that type of capital expenditure to a problem
area, rather than adding $40,000/year Police Officers to address the speeding problem, was money
well spent.

Planning - Building Division

Davidson felt, since this is a new request, that the proposed small, light, 2-wheel drive pick-up truck
should be funded from the Growth Related Fund rather than the General Fund.

Mayer felt a small compact car would be more appropriate and cost effective.

Davidson suggested purchasing two small GEOs instead of the one pick-up.

Council agreed.

Library

Anne Mojo, Library Director, further clarified her budgetary requests.

Additional Items
