thaf your. WehWice bra`Ight digital readers from all cultural heritage orgcni, ationc together
to char= idea{ and prGlctic=c AAy evperie_c_c with museums and hlctarical cociet+oc led to
long-term interest in finding ways of proce=ssing rind precepting collections that document
local and regional history, and mal'ing therm available to the public. I even seed for some
tine on the organhation Ir'=mmittee nn
Archiv=e 1 ihrarins, and AAIJeeIJme' that Iinke the
American Library Association with th. American Alliance of AAiiseume, and the Cnc1ety far
American Archivists. And of course, I make a practice of visiting local history museums
wherever I travel_
I'm aware of the City's interest in expanding the Museum's physical presence, and I have
extensive experience with building design and construction. I led the planning, design, and
building of the new DU library, the Anderson Academic Commons, a $32M renovation project
that has served ns a model for library collaboration with other DU academic_ and community
partners. The DU library k truly a campus gathering place, featuring exhibits, programs,
rollpctiDos, and learning opportunities of all kinds. It is this same concept that is so exriting
nbout the Muse+!m project proposal: it will serve as a community education spore,
rnnnecti❑g Louisville residents to their history in lively and meaningful ways. I've read the
Louisville Historiral M11Ceurm Crimpus Masterplan, and the Proposal and Business Plan for the
Louisville Visitor Center and Historical MuSeum and find it all Very compelling.
I hope you agree that my eYperieore with and knowledge about cultural heritr+ge
orgoni7pfionc pc wail ac my evpeliAGce with capitol projects, could be useful to the Historical
Commission; I would be an enthusiastic member if selected. I am attaching my resume,
which illustrates a long-time interest in cultural heritage advacacy,
e
Sincer-- —IY.
Nancy Allen
Wancylimile 2Aaag=ail.^^^=
2
18
