All plants are to be nursery grown stock from growers located in USDA hardiness <br />zones 1,2,3 or 4. <br />2. Install 4" deep wood chips from tree & brush trimmings (no pole peelings) in all <br />single trees. <br />3. Cedar mulch to be used in all shrub and groundcover beds unless otherwise noted. <br />Sample of woodchips to be approved by Landscape Architect prior to installation. <br />4. Soil preparation shall consist of equal parts of composted cow manure at a rote of 3 <br />cu. yds. per 1000 sq. ft. and tilled to a depth of 6"-9". % available nitrogen (Urea & <br />Fertilizers shall include: <br />a. Commercial fertilizer having an analysis of 46 <br />sulphur -coated Urea only) (46-0-0) in sufficient quantity to apply at a rate <br />of 50 lbs. nitrogen per acre. <br />b. Treble phosphate (0-46-0) in sufficient quantity to apply at a rate of <br />650 lbs. phosphate per acre. <br />5. Seperate turf from shrub beds with staked 1/8"x4" aluminum edger. <br />6. Install 3-4" dia. river cobble much over geotextile fabric at 4" depth, where noted on <br />plan. No fabric is to be visible. Excavate soil where necessary to keep rock beds no <br />more than 1" above finished grade. Cobble selection to be approved by Landscape <br />Architect prior to installation. <br />7. The following are minimum distances that plant materials can be placed from <br />adjacent walls, fences, or paved areas. <br />a. Evergreen trees - 8' <br />b. Large shrubs - 4' <br />c. Medium shrubs - 2 1/2' <br />d. Groundcovers - 12" <br />8. Any plant substitutions are to be approved by Landscape Architect prior to installation. <br />9. Irrigated sod is to be fescue/bluegrass sod, where shown on plan. Lay sod 1" lower <br />than adjacent paving grade or edger except in the center of a swale where drainage <br />would be impeded. Match all proposed sod to existing sod. <br />10. All turf to be watered using an underground automatic irrigation system. All trees, <br />shrubs, and groundcover to be watered using an underground automatic drip irrigation <br />system. <br />11. All native seed areas area to be watered using a temporary irrigation system. <br />12. Installation of irrigation system to include shut down of system at end of growing <br />season & start up of system in spring. <br />13. The contractor shall be solely responsible for safety in, on or about the project site. <br />Any damage to adjacent property or utilities, not designated for removal, relocation or <br />replacement, shall be repaired and/or replaced by the contractor at the contractor's <br />expense. <br />14. The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining any permits or licenses required for <br />the performance of the work as applicable to the project. <br />15. The landscape architect and/or owner moke no warranty as to the correctness <br />and/or completeness of the existing utility locations shown or not shown on the plans. <br />The contractor shall be responsible for field verifying the horizontal and vertical location <br />of all existing utilities including water, sewer, storm drains, gas transmission lines, and <br />other utilities above and below the surface that may affect the project. Should any <br />discrepancy or conflict be discovered the contractor shall notify the landscape architect <br />immediately, and shall not continue construction until said conflict can be resolved in <br />writing. <br />16. The contractor shall notify all utility companies at least 48 hours prior to beginning <br />construction to verify depth and location of all utilities. <br />17. Any construction debris or mud -tracking in the public right-of-way resulting from <br />the work shall be removed immediately by the contractor. <br />18. The contractor shall provide all lights, signs, barricades, flagmen and other devices <br />necessary to provide for the public safety on and about the site. The contractor <br />shall furnish appropriate traffic control and safety measures in accordance with the <br />requirements of applicable Highways and Transportation authority. <br />19. If there is a discrepancy between plant quantities on plant legend, plan takes <br />precedence, i.e. the number of symbols shown takes precedence over the quantity in the <br />call -out, if there is a discrepency. Contractor shall be responsible for his own <br />construction quantity estimates. <br />20. Property owners shall maintain all plant materials located in adjacent public street <br />right of ways. <br />21.
