<br />City Council/LRC <br />Special Meeting Minutes <br />June 9, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />The station designs supplied were slightly modified by RTD and URS, since the <br />last discussion with City Council in response to comments. The design presents <br />the environmental footprint. With respect to parking, by 2035, there will be <br />between 800 and 860 parking spaces. <br /> <br />Council/Commission Comments <br /> <br />There was considerable discussion relative to parking. The City Council and <br />LRC Commissioners discussed the Littleton Transit Center and noted the lack of <br />parking. There was a consensus with the high cost of gas the ridership on public <br />transit will increase. <br /> <br />Mr. Quinn explained some of the models will project the number of walkers and <br />bikers as well as the number of cars whose destination is a transit center. It was <br />noted it is possible the station would be a bus term inal as well as a train station. <br />Council and Commissioners discussed the parking challenges on the east side of <br />the track, which would require joint development by the City and the landowners. <br />Underground parking and local private parking districts were also discussed. <br /> <br />Mr. Quinn was asked if there is a charge for parking at the parking garage at <br />Table Mesa. He explained RTD cannot charge an in-district resident for parking. <br />Legislation may change to permit charging out-of-district riders. However there is <br />a charge for parking overnight (24 hour) at the Table Mesa parking garage. <br /> <br />Fencing <br /> <br />The NWR Project Establish Fencing Committee consists of self-selected <br />members of NWR Governments Team. Their first meeting was held in March. <br />Meeting 1 - Guidelines review and issues discussion; Meeting 2 - Propose <br />treatments for NWR Corridor; Meeting 3 - Finalize treatments for NWR Corridor. <br />Meeting No.2 is to be held on June 19th to evaluate fencing treatment to include <br />types appropriate for unique corridor environment. The types of fencing to be <br />considered are: Omega; Post & Cable and 4-Strand. <br /> <br />The chain link fence is proposed as a baseline for the corridor. Should <br />communities' desire upgraded fences, they would be required to pay the cost <br />difference. The fencing identified will be wildlife friendly. It was suggested the <br />City form a committee to decide the type of fencing they desire. There was <br />discussion on fencing and bicycle paths within right-of-ways. Mr. Quinn explained <br />the railroad has not been receptive to such suggestions and typically does not <br />want anything within their right-of-ways. <br /> <br />Quiet Zones <br />
