<br />Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />June 18, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />restoration costs by conservation experts will be $400-500. It is hoped that a <br />grant could be obtained for the restoration costs. <br />B. A Supplemental Budget Request Update is expected in July, at that time we <br />will ask for funds to cover the maintenance costs we will be paying out of our <br />funding for painting. <br />C. A recap of the Historic Preservation/Economic Development Roundtable Forum <br />was provided by Meredyth Muth. <br />D. The Study Session with City Council will be September 9, 2008. <br />E. The Historic Preservation Sales Tax ballot title will be refined and City Council <br />will consider it on July 1, 2008. <br />F New plants for the landscaping have been ordered. <br /> <br />IX. Museum Coordinator's Report <br />A. Deeds of Gifts / Donations <br />1. Charles Waneka: copies of photos from the Hecla Mine conflict, 1914 <br />2. Shirley Bodhaine: photo of Mike Colacci and Blue Parrot staff from late <br />1960's and photo of Frank Varley <br />3. Betty Schmoll sent the Museum reference information on the properties in <br />Louisville owned by her grandfather, Joseph Lackner. <br />4. Bridget Bacon showed the Commission an item from a potential donor. <br />Members identified it as an early blow torch of a style used in Louisville and <br />expressed that it should be sought as a donation for the Museum. <br />5. Virginia Caranci mentioned that Waveform Automotive may be seeking to <br />get rid of an antique safe originally from the State Mercantile Building. <br />Bridget will contact the owner in hopes of photographing the safe for <br />purposes of documentation at the Museum. <br />B. Correspondence and News Coverage <br />1. Publicity for an event at the Boulder County Agricultural Heritage Center <br />was shared with the Commission. <br />2. The book The Journey of the Italians in America, which is to include photos <br />of Louisville from the Museum's collection, will be published soon. <br />C. Visitor's Report and Tours <br />1. May Visitors - 142 <br />2. Year to date - 490 <br />D. Activity Report <br />1. Mesa Elementary donated $300 following a school tour at the Museum. <br />2. Louisville resident Pete Lindquist is conducting historical research on the <br />roles of Louis Nawatny and Charles C. Welch in the establishment of <br />Louisville. <br />3. Bridget Bacon will attend a conference of the Institute for Museum and <br />Library Services (IMLS) on the topic of promoting the collaboration of <br />museum and library institutions working on the digitization of photographs <br />and documents. <br />4. The book Superior: A Folk History has been reprinted by the Town of <br />Superior after having been out of print. <br />E. In connection with the demolition of the Louisville Middle School building that <br />was previously Louisville High School, several items are in the process of being <br />donated to the Museum: six auditorium lights, a ceiling tile from the auditorium, <br />
