Library Board of Trustees
Minutes: January 24, 2008

Anne noted that the City and Library websites will be undergoing an update this year,
and one of the Library's goals for this project is to improve our ability to gather and
analyze usage statistics.

All agreed that these website plans should be noted in the opportunities section of
Chapter 5, and Eileen agreed to compose an item to be included.

Anne noted that the final version would be bound in three-ring binders with spine label
and front cover. A prototype was distributed for Board members to review.

Copies of the final plan will be distributed to all Board members, City Council, City
Manager, Library staff members who were part of the committee, and the Library
reference collection. An online version will be available from the Library's website.

The plan was unanimously approved by the Board and will be presented to City Council,
probably within the next 60 days. Anne will coordinate with the City Manager's Office to
schedule this presentation. At that same meeting, an award given to Humphries Poli
Architects by the Denver AlA for the new Library building will also be presented.

B. By-laws Revision

The Board reviewed and discussed a new version of the Library Board by-laws that had
been based on the Louisville Revitalization Commission (LRC) by-laws. Board members
had previously been provided with copies of these by-laws for the LRC. Anne noted that
as the LRC document had been recently reviewed and approved by Sam Light, the City's
attorney, they could serve as a good frame of reference for the Library Board by-laws
revision.

This first draft of the new by-laws was reviewed and edited during the meeting. Anne
will follow-up with Sam Light on a few items prior to the next review at the March 20
meeting.

C. Report - Joseph Sikora Art Unveiling and Follow-up

Alicia brought several prepared thank-you notes for Board members to sign. Alicia will
personally deliver these to Mayor Sisk, City Council members, and several others who
attended the art unveiling on December 8, 2007. This well-attended event was
scheduled for the same day as the Downtown Holiday Home Tour and during a holiday
musical program at the Library.

Alicia noted that she and Joseph will work on a text/photo descriptive "key" to place
near the carvings.

9.
