Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />January 12, 2017 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />E. Board Projects for 2017 <br />• Read, Baby, Read <br />o Renee had applied for a grant, which was not approved. Sherri, Renee and <br />Jeannie will meet in the next few weeks to discuss next steps including <br />asking for donations from places like Target. <br />• Target new Louisville residents by distributing Library information. One place of <br />interest is the new Kestrel Apartments. Ashley suggested that Sherri contact the <br />County to help facilitate this idea. Ashley will provide a contact number. <br />• Ongoing projects for the Board include: <br />o Marketing outreach at the Farmer's Market <br />o Staff appreciation lunch <br />o Maintaining the Little Libraries <br />o Passing out books to preschools during 'One Book 4 Colorado' <br />o Attending Back -to -School nights <br />o Supporting OTSP <br />F. Term Length for Library Board of Trustees Service <br />The Board voted to a 3 -year term length. Sherri will send a letter to Council sharing this <br />information. The change will require a City Ordinance revision. <br />G. Little Libraries <br />All Board members are signed up to maintain the libraries throughout 2017. <br />XI. Director's Report <br />• Beth explained the reasons behind putting a sign in the window that says `Everybody <br />Welcome' <br />o Have heard from several people who are anxious about what may be directed at <br />them <br />o Sign underscores our commitment to serve all in our communities <br />• Loveland is all set to join the Flatirons Library Consortium. <br />• End of the year statistics reports 1/2 million items circulated in 2016 <br />o This includes regular circulation, as well as FLC holds <br />o Above-the-Treeline software will enable us to determine what items are most in <br />demand and facilitate adjustments in ordering materials <br />• State Grant funds were distributed as follows: <br />o $800 for Makerspace <br />o $1200 for adult services materials (sports, health) <br />o $3200 for downloadable materials <br />o $500 for teen graphic novels <br />o $4000 for children's non-fiction and stories -to -go <br />• The curtain from the Rex Movie Theatre was chosen by as one of Colorado's "Ten Most <br />Significant Artifacts" for the year <br />
