City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />October 25, 2016 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Council thanked the Fire District and noted that the community gets incredible <br />value considering the low mill levy rate. <br />Presentation/Update — Boulder County Consortium of Cities/Boulder <br />County Housing and Human Services <br />Boulder County Housing and Human Services Director Frank Alexander and <br />Norrie Boyd, Housing Division Director provided Council with an overview of the <br />presentation attached to this summary. He started by thanking Council for their <br />support on the Kestral development. He said the project is coming to life and <br />serving the community. It has been a complicated project but is now a <br />community asset. There are 625 people on an interest list. <br />Alexander said that approximately 40% of county residents spend more than 1/2 <br />of their income on housing. A graphic showed affordable housing is perceived as <br />an extremely or very serious problem. Solutions are challenging to achieve. Land <br />banking would be a critical component. He asked the City to consider future land <br />banking. <br />Deb Fahey congratulated Boulder County Housing on sustainability initiatives in <br />affordable housing projects. <br />Council thanked Mr. Alexander and Ms. Boyd <br />Adjourn 9:10 pm <br />Submitted by— Dawn Burgess <br />October 26, 2016 <br />
