Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 6, 2017 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Menaker hopes Council liaison would advocate BRaD mission no matter how many <br />Council members are on. <br />City Manager Fleming asked why would BRaD be different than for instance, OSAB, <br />and would require more than one Council member? Commissioner Lathrop said BRaD <br />is different in that it represents income side rather than expenditure side. <br />Mike Kranzdorf said multiple Council liaisons is practical, in theory but thinks one <br />Council member is worth a try. <br />Mark Oberholtzer said that on LCC, citizens could discuss with staff/Council as conduits <br />to Council. Council member Maloney said it is really the lead reports to Council. <br />Committee does the work. <br />Chair Loo summarized — discussion trend seems to be: <br />1. Maintain distinct groups — CTC, DBA, McCaslin, LRC, Chamber, Planning <br />2. Make everybody at -large. <br />Chair Loo would like a hybrid. The ability to have non-resident but needs to represent a <br />business in Louisville. There would be a Council liaison but this person would not have <br />a vote. <br />Recommendation to Council is to: Maintain organization representation. <br />ED UPDATE <br />The Blue Parrot under is new ownership. Owners are negotiating with restaurants as <br />new tenants. Mark Oberholtzer hopes to keep the sign and mural. <br />Land exchange occurred with 608 Studios to allow for more parking. <br />CTC has several buildings under construction.
