<br />1. THE PURPOSE OF THESE GUIDELINES IS TO PROMOTE THE PUBLIC
<br />AWARENESS BY PROVIDING SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC ART REPRESENTING
<br />LOUISVILLE'S PAST, AND ENHANCING BUILDINGS, SITES, AND AREAS OF
<br />THE CITY REMINISCENT OF PAST ERAS, EVENTS, AND PERSONS IMPORTANT
<br />IN LOCAL, STATE, OR NATIONAL HISTORY.
<br />2. THE INTENT OF THESE PLANS IS TO PROVIDE A SYMBOLIC BALANCE
<br />BETWEEN PRIVATE PROPERTY AND THE PUBLICS INTEREST BY REPRESENTING
<br />THE CITY'S CULTURAL, HISTORIC, AND ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE, AND
<br />DEVELOPING THE APPROPRIATE SETTINGS AND ENVIRONMENTS FOR
<br />SUCH ELEMENTS TO ENHANCE PROPERTY VALUES, PROMOTE INTEREST,
<br />AND FOSTER KNOWLEDGE OF THE CITY'S LIVING HERITAGE.
<br />3. THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF EACH AREA MAY BE WELCOMED,
<br />SUPPORTED AND CELEBRATED THROUGH SIGNAGE, ART OR SCULPTURE.
<br />4. HISTORIC FEATURES MAY BE COMMEMORATED AND INTEGRATED
<br />INTO DIFFERENT PUBLIC AND QUASI SPACES THROUGH OUT DELO. THESE
<br />NEW FEATURE MAY COMPLIMENT THE HISTORIC CHARACTER IN DESIGN,
<br />COLOR, TEXTURE, AND OTHER VISUAL QUALITIES.
