L
Louisville
COLORADO • S1NC N ;
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA ITEM 11
SUBJECT:
DATE:
YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD ANNUAL REPORT
APRIL 25, 2017
PRESENTED BY: YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD
1. LIST HIGHLIGHTS AND SUCCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR:
Last year, the Youth Advisory Board's goal was to get people outside
exploring Louisville on foot or by bike. YAB sought specifically to tell people
about Louisville's trails at the Trek the Trails event last June.
This year, the YAB has gone back to the broader goal of encouraging
people to explore the city through our Walkability project. We successfully
partnered with the Planning Dept. using a program called Walk Your City,
and are proud of the work we've done for this project.
Members have participated in several very successful volunteer events,
such as working at a soup kitchen, and assisting Community Food Share's
food drives.
Members have learned a great deal about local government by sitting in on
the meetings of other boards and commissions.
2. LIST PLANS/GOALS FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS:
YAB will continue work toward our goal of encouraging community members
to explore Louisville on foot with the Walkability project. The Walk Your City
signs will be posted around town during patio season (May -October).
Members will work to create more awareness of the Youth Advisory Board.
YAB members will continue to help the community through volunteer work.
YAB will be the voice of the youth to City Council.
Members will learn about local government.
We will interact with a diverse group of youth in the community while
building leadership skills.
3. IN WHAT AREAS DO YOU NEED CITY COUNCIL INPUT/FEEDBACK?
YAB is satisfied with the input, and thank their City Council liaison, Jay Keany,
for his assistance.
4. DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS FOR THE CITY COUNCIL?
What do you believe would be a good project for the YAB?
Will you try out our Walk Your City signs and help spread the word about them?
RECOMMENDATION:
Discussion
ATTACHMENT(S):
1.
