<br />City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />July 8, 2008 <br />Page 3 of6 <br /> <br />Carol Hanson, Deputy City Clerk, gave an update on the LLA. Ms. Hanson said <br />that there have been several show cause hearings lately and that there would be <br />new liquor license applications being presented in the future. She reminded <br />Council that they had received the annual report for the LLA in January. <br /> <br />John Rommelfanger, Chair of LLA, said that the mission of the LLA is clear. Mr. <br />Rommelfanger also said that Ms. Hanson does an exceptional job working with <br />the LLA. <br /> <br />Ms. Hanson said that there has been one liquor store applying for a tasting <br />license. <br /> <br />Councilor Hank Dalton asked how long it takes to get a liquor license once the <br />application has been turned in. <br /> <br />Ms. Hanson said that she tells applicants that it can take up to 90 days. Ms. <br />Hanson said that it takes less time but that it can take up to 90 days. <br /> <br />Mr. Rommelfanger said that currently there are 50 establishments with liquor <br />licenses in Louisville and when determining whether to give a license the LLA <br />looks at the number of licenses in the area and the needs and comments of the <br />community. Mr. Rommelfanger said that LLA also sends out letters of thanks to <br />establishments that follow the code consistently as an acknowledgment of civic <br />responsibility. <br /> <br />John Carlson, LLA member, stated that they also issue special use licenses for <br />charity events, farmer's market, etc. <br /> <br />Councilor Ron Sackett thanked the LLA members for their service. He said that <br />they are valuable to Louisville and help keep Louisville a nice community to live <br />in. <br /> <br />Councilor Clabots asked if there many local liquor stores starting to open on <br />Sundays since the change to allow liquor sales on Sunday. <br /> <br />Mr. Rommelfanger said that he was not aware on any changes to the local liquor <br />stores. Mr. Carlson indicated that the overhead costs may keep liquor stores <br />from opening on Sunday. <br /> <br />4. UpdatelDiscussion - Open Space Advisory Board (OSAB) <br />Mayor Pro Tem Sheri Marsella requested those in attendance introduce <br />themselves. <br /> <br />Thomas Davinroy, Chair of OSAB, went through the list of accomplishments of <br />the OSAB. Mr. Davinroy pointed out the OSAB was the only Board that sent a <br />letter to the editor regarding 2A. <br /> <br />Mr. Davinroy said that some issues that the OSAB is working on is trail <br />connectivity, the underpass at Lastoka Open Space and S.
