He stated that Waste Water
International is a multi-billion dollar trash company, which will
offer cut-rate introductory rates for trash service. He explained
that due to these methods, it forces small companies out of
business. Huey proposed that the Council reiterate their policy to
encourage citizens to do business with local companies. He also
cited Council's concern about wear and tear on the streets due to
more trucks on the streets.

Lathrop:

Huey:

Lathrop:

Huey:

Lathrop:

How many trash companies do business
in Louisville, that you're aware of?

Western Disposal, BFI, ourselves
(Town & Country), Gerbitz, and one
small pickup company.

Aren't trash trucks one
highest axle load vehicles
highway?

of the
on the

Certainly. Also, gravel trucks.

I sympathize with your position. I
think family-owned, local businesses
have a very, very high priority with
the City of Louisville.

Mayer:

Mr. Huey's company, Town & Country
Disposal, was the first company to
come up with recycling in
Louisville. Glen has helped run
that recycling station. He serves
on our Resource Conservation
Committee and on the County's Solid
Waste Committee.
