SUBJECT: POLICE MASTER PLAN WITH COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS <br />DATE: MAY 9, 2017 <br />PAGE 4 OF 17 <br />Recommendation for Implementation: <br />Complete Total Compensation study as part of the recommendations and <br />changes for the 2018 Budget. <br />Possible changes in wages would take effect in January 2018. <br />Option 3: Continue using existing Labor Market cities for Total Compensation <br />process and recommendations for 2018. <br />Pros: <br />Predictable and standard process used successfully for many years. <br />Cons: <br />Last time labor market cities were changed (The cities are reviewed each year) <br />was in 2013 when we added the Town of Erie. <br />Cost: The 2017/2018 bi-annual budget includes funding for estimated increases of 4% <br />for salaries for general employees, including staff working less than 29 hours per week, <br />and 5% for Sworn Police Officer positions. <br />Recommendation for Implementation: <br />Complete the Total Compensation study as part of the recommendations and <br />changes for the 2018 Budget. <br />Possible changes in wages and/or benefits would take effect during January of <br />2018. <br />Benefits Background <br />Currently, the City of Louisville offers a comprehensive employee benefit program that <br />helps employees stay healthy, feel secure, and maintain a work/life balance.
