SUBJECT: POLICE MASTER PLAN WITH COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
DATE: MAY 9, 2017
PAGE 17 OF 17
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff would like to hear City Council's comments regarding the eight (8) options
presented, possible hybrids of the options listed above, and on any other options City
Council would like to consider.
Staff currently favors a combination of Option 1, add the City of Boulder to our Labor
Market cities and Option 5, adding the Fire, Police, and Pension Association (FPPA)
defined benefit retirement option. However, if the vote to join FPPA does not pass by
65% as is required, the alternative recommendation would be to combine Option 1 with
Option 6 which adds the City of Boulder to our Labor Market cities and offers an
increase to the Sworn Officers 401(a) contribution based on years of service.
The Police Department Master Plan is attached for your reference as well.
ATTACHMENT(S):
1. City of Louisville 2017 Benefits Guide
2. City of Louisville — Labor Market Benefits Survey — Retirement Details — 2017
3. FPPA-State Wide Defined Benefit Plan with Social Security — SS 3.8.16
4. FPPA — State Wide Death & Disability Plan — SS 3.8.16
5.
