Approval of Resolution No. 31, Series 2017 — A Resolution Approving
the Granting of Temporary and Permanent Access and Utility
Easements by the City of Louisville and County of Boulder to the City
of Lafayette for the Installation and Maintenance of an Underground
Water Pipeline in the Callahan Open Space
COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA
CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
REGULAR BUSINESS
None.
None.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION/ACTION — PROPOSAL FOR THE PRESERVATION OF
THE LEE AVENUE MINERS CABINS — continued from 5/16/17
Director Zuccaro stated that at the May 16th City Council meeting, Council asked the
Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) to make a recommendation on possible
locations for the Miners Cabins within the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) funding
area. The Commission unanimously made the following recommendations to City
Council:
The City should acquire the Miners Cabins and fund their relocation and
rehabilitation through the Historic Preservation Fund.
If the City needs to move the Miners Cabins immediately to a temporary storage
location due to the June 13th expiration of the demolition stay, the Historic
Preservation Commission recommends the property at 1036 Walnut Street,
owned by Steve Poppitz.
The City should relocate the Cabins together at John Breaux Park. If John
Breaux Park is not feasible, the HPC recommends Hwy 42 & Pine as an
alternate location.
The City should relocate the Cardox fencing in front of the Cabins and use the
materials on the existing outbuilding to rehabilitate the Cabins if the property
owner is willing to donate these materials as well.
The City should go through a formal bid process to ensure the best price for
relocating and rehabilitating the Cabins.
The final use of the Cabins should allow them to be open to the public in their
final location.
22
