City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 5, 2017 <br />Page 7 of 18 <br />Council member Keany noted citizens have asked for this for some time It should be <br />noted this does not mean broadband will be provided but gives the opportunity to <br />partner to provide it in the future <br />RJ Harrington, 457 E Raintree Court, thanked Council for giving residents this choice <br />since it gives the City the opportunity to provide regional service in the future <br />Mayor Muckle closed the public hearing. <br />Council member Maloney moved Council approve Ordinance 1742, Senes 2017. Mayor <br />Muckle seconded. Roll Call Vote. Muckle — yes, Maloney — yes, Stolzmann — yes, Loo <br />— yes, Keany — yes, Lipton — yes, Leh — yes <br />RESOLUTION NO. 34, SERIES 2017 — A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE IN SUPPORT OF THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT <br />City Manager Fleming introduced Sustainability Specialist Erika Archer. City Manager <br />Fleming noted Council Members asked staff to prepare for Council consideration a <br />Resolution expressing the City's support for the Paris Climate Agreement The <br />resolution is patterned after similar agreements adopted by other local governments <br />Mayor Pro Tem Lipton had also submitted a resolution with some changes for Council <br />consideration <br />Mayor Muckle noted he had asked for this to be on the agenda as climate change is an <br />issue of local concern Louisville residents have expressed their concem in survey <br />results He called for public comment. <br />RJ Harrington, 457 E. Raintree Court supported the resolution as prepared by Mayor <br />Pro Tem Lipton. <br />Debbie Fahey, 1118 W Enclave Circle felt it was important to not only show support but <br />partnership with other communities showing a joint interest in these issues. <br />Ms. Archer noted Mark Persichetti of the Sustainability Advisory Board had also emailed <br />his support <br />Council member Maloney wanted to make a statement and felt the resolution submitted <br />by Mayor Pro Tem Lipton made a statement particular to Louisville <br />Council member Stolzmann wanted to stress there has been progress in sustainability <br />and reducing the carbon footprint in Louisville She gave many examples of things that <br />have been done, encouraged continuing to do so and pointed to the City's Energy <br />Action Plan. <br />
