LCityof
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 1878
VII. Update on South Street Underpass. Allan Gill presented updates on South Street
underpass and current plans for landscaping and hardscaping in conjunction with Burlington
Northern Railroad development. The Board adopted all four of the Parks and Recreation
Department suggestions, yet concerns were raised about building and landscape materials
and inconsistent landscaping to other existing areas of Louisville. Strong opposition and
concern to the high number of plants and excessive irrigation needs were made. A motion
was made by Keaton Howe and seconded by Ellen Toon to vote on approval of creation of a
letter to the LRC board, City Council, and Parks and Recreation Director Joe Stevens to reflect
these concerns. The board voted unanimously in favor of the creation of this letter.
VIII. Board Appreciation. A small gift and card was provided to each board member in
gratification for their devotion toward parks and public landscaping topics.
IX. Appointment of Open Space Advisory Board Liaison. A Motion was presented by Ellen
Toon and second motion by Mark Newland to vote on approval of Keaton Howe as OSAB
Liaison. The Board voted unanimously to approve Keaton Howe as OSAB liaison. Discussion
of benefits and liabilities of a new dog park ensued.
X. Park Days Discussion. The board discussed creation of an annual event to invite citizens
in celebration and maintenance of designated parks. This will be put in the next meeting's
agenda to pick a date and additional ideas.
XI. Park Lands Designation Discussion. Dean Johnson presented a software program to
organize existing public lands, to assist in definitions and categorizations of parks,
greenways, corridors, and public landscapes, and to create management protocols according
to land designations.
X. Agenda Items for Next Week include presentations for Underpass at HWY 42 and Park
Days discussion.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335-4735 • FAX (303) 335-4738
www.Iouisvilleco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES 3OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
