Call to Order- Mike called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. <br />II. Roll Call - <br />Board Members Present: Laura Scott Denton, Mike Schantz, Jim Gibb, Fiona <br />Garvin, Graeme Patterson <br />Board Members Absent: Helen Moshak, Missy Davis, Linda Smith <br />City Council Members Present: none <br />Staff Members Present: Ember Brignull, Joe Stevens <br />III. Approval of Agenda - <br />Laura moved to approve the agenda as written. Fiona seconded. The motion <br />was passed unanimously. <br />IV. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes - <br />Jim moved to approve the minutes as written. Fiona seconded. The motion was <br />passed unanimously. <br />V. Staff Updates - <br />A. OSAB Appreciation day meant that Ember brought pie and ice cream for the <br />board and gave thanks for volunteer efforts in improving the Open Space Program. <br />B. City Council has approved the funding for the geological risk study for the land <br />slump at Coyote Run Open Space. <br />C. Work is beginning on the solar panel project at Hecla Lake. <br />D. Staff has received many calls from citizens concerned about water levels at <br />Hecla Lake. The water is low right now. Ember said she takes this time to try to <br />educate concerned public about where the water comes from and how it is used and <br />allocated. Fiona suggested talking to Balfour as a unit, maybe by putting up flyers in <br />their communal spaces. Ember stated that flyers are posted in the area explaining that <br />we do not have access to ditch water and anticipated dates for filling the lake. Ember <br />has also started an email list and is sending updates to citizens on the status of the <br />water. <br />E. Birds are using Hecla Lake (e.g. herons, egrets, etc.). <br />F. Staff met with an irrigation company to discuss irrigation and shrub plantings <br />on the North East corner of Hecla. The plan is to plant approximately 35 "bird -friendly" <br />shrubs. <br />G. Goats are on properties grazing weeds. Approximate 30-40 people showed <br />up at the "Meet and Bleat" event today, which was particularly good turn -out considering <br />the weather. Staff expects a larger turn -out at Friday's event.
