Louisville City Council Meeting <br />February 17, 2004 <br />Page 2 of 11 <br /> <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br /> THE AGENDA <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons introduced the City's new Finance Director Patricia Leslie, <br />who will begin work on Monday, February 23rd. Leslie is a Colorado Certified Public <br />Accountant, has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, a Masters Degree in Business <br />Administration and Accounting, and a Masters Degree of Sciences in Information and <br />Technology. Leslie will oversee the finance and budgeting process and information <br />technology for the City. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />UPDATE/ACTION - RECOMMENDATION FOR ARCHITECTURAL & <br />ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE LOUISVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk called for Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd updated Council on the progress of the architectural and <br />engineering proposals for the design of the Louisville Public Library. She reviewed that <br />eleven proposals were submitted in response to the City's RFP. The Library Task Force <br />Committee chose five teams to interview on January 28 and 29. Following the <br />interviews, two firms, Barker Rinker Seacat and Humphries Poli for follow-up <br />interviews. The Committee requested follow-up information and scheduled an additional <br />meeting on Tuesday, February 17. The Committee was diligent in their deliberations and <br />analysis and forwards a recommendation for the firm ofHumphries Poli for Architectural <br />& Engineering Services for the new library. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Council member Marsella stated that the process was helpful in the selection of the <br />finalist. She reported all five firms interviewed were very well qualified and the two <br />finalists were exceptional. She stated the committee interviewed and made site visits to <br />determine the best firm to build the new library. <br /> <br />Library Director Anne Mojo thanked all the members of the Library Task Force who <br />participated in the interview process. She thanked the Library volunteers Bridget Bacon <br />and Mary O'Donnell, who have worked as volunteers over the past ten years. She voiced <br />her belief the City will have an excellent new library. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk thanked Staff and the volunteers for their dedication and commitment. He <br />reported the Humphries Poli presentation was outstanding. He noted the process was not <br />centered on cost, but rather the soundness of the proposals. <br /> <br />Council member Brown asked that Council consider an energy efficient library. <br /> <br /> <br />
