City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2008 <br />Page 4 of 9 <br />Becky Hogan, 56 Steele Street, Denver, CO updated Council on February's <br />economic developments. ShE~ reported on the new Shop Louisville Campaign <br />mascot "Shaky Ray", which vuas displayed on a banner hung over the dais. <br />The Business Retention and Development Committee (BRaD) is continuing their <br />work plan on goals and objectives established for first quarter. She noted several <br />communities are also excited) about the Conoco Phillips location to Louisville. <br />She reported the BRaD Committee will look at the overall structure of economic <br />development and evaluate the impact of such a corporation locating in Louisville. <br />She reported the former State Farm Insurance building is being transformed to <br />new retail spaces. <br />Michael Menaker, 1827 W. Choke Cherry Drive, Louisville, CO asked how <br />interested citizens could learn more about BRaD's activities. <br />Annie Hughes, 1405 Garfield Avenue, Louisville, CO asked if the Conoco Phillips <br />building materials will be recycled. She requested a citizen's committee be <br />formed to review the Conoco Phillips plans to ensure they are going in the <br />direction the citizens want. <br />Mayor Sisk explained Conoco Phillips is in the very early planning stages. <br />Becky Hogan reported the BRaD Committee is made up of members of Council, <br />Staff, Chamber of CommercE~, Downtown Business Association, The Louisville <br />Revitalization Commission ar~d the business community. For citizens wishing to <br />learn more about BRaD's activities; their meetings are open to the public. They <br />meet on the first Monday of each month, at 8:00 a.m., in the Library. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION -LOUISVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL DEMOLITION <br />Mayor Sisk reported that the Boulder Valley School District Board of Education <br />met last week and decided toy go forward with the demolition of the Louisville <br />Middle School historic facade. He asked Councilor Muckle to review his draft <br />resolution regarding the preservation of the Historic Louisville Middle School. <br />Councilor Muckle read the draft resolution, which requested the Louisville Middle <br />School historic facade be preserved to allow potential fundraising for <br />preservation, to obtain an independent peer review analysis of preservation <br />design and costs and to allover a public meeting between the Louisville City <br />Council and the Boulder VallE:y School Board at Louisville Middle School. <br />Peter Stewart, 1132 Jefferson Avenue, Louisville, CO stated it was not a matter <br />of money, but a matter of de~~ign. He felt the resolution coincides with the City's <br />historic preservation, and resource conservation goals. He urged Council to <br />meet with the School District <br />
