City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2008 <br />Page6of9 <br />supported the resolution and meeting with the School District to discuss the <br />impact the demolition of the facade would have on the City. He supported the <br />school expansion to include school and community activities. <br />Councilor Muckle asked City Attorney Light to address the CRS 22-32-124 <br />Building codes-zoning-planning-rules-definitions, which was cited by Mr. Koertje. <br />City Attorney stated there are two parts to the statute: The Board of Education <br />will submit a development plan to the Planning Commission and request a <br />hearing. In either case there are no time lines attached to the statute. <br />Councilor Muckle agreed the statute did not give the City any authority over the <br />School District. He noted conversations prior to the Boulder Valley School bond <br />issue concerned preservation of the Louisville Middle School facade. He stated it <br />is an unnecessary conflict, bE~cause everyone wants a safe, building for children. <br />Councilor Sackett asked what would approval of the resolution do in terms of <br />preserving the facade. He stated it does not carry a plan with a timeline allowing <br />the Council to proceed. <br />Councilor Muckle explained tlhe resolution could not be approved tonight, but it is <br />important to move forward and initiate discussions with the School District. <br />Councilor Yarnell agreed it is important to take a stand. She recalled a meeting <br />with the School District and discussions relative to preservation of the historic <br />facade. <br />Mayor Sisk hoped Council could ask the Boulder Valley School District to <br />reassess their decision and he supported appealing to the School District. <br />Councilor Dalton stated there was a trust issue at stake. <br />Mayor Sisk requested the City Attorney review the resolution and have a revised <br />document for the next meeting. He asked the City Manager to schedule a <br />meeting between two membE~rs of the Council, two members of the School <br />District, the Superintendent and the City Manger to discuss the preservation of <br />the Louisville Middle School historic facade issue.
