Joint Meeting <br />Boulder Valley School District <br />Louisville City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 7, 2008 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Connie Tadehara, 1561 Kennedy Avenue, Louisville, CO spoke in behalf of her <br />daughter Amy, who is currentlly a teacher in Japan. Amy attended Louisville <br />Middle School and supports the preservation of the historic facade. She <br />expressed her pride in her Louisville Middle School education. <br />Jim Bradford, 1845 Tyler, Louiisville, CO stated the Louisville Middle School is in <br />good shape. He did not agree with constructing the new building around <br />students in classrooms. <br />Sue McAvoy, 379 Lincoln AvE;nue, Louisville, CO voiced her full support of the <br />current design. <br />Kelly Johannes, 1182 Harper Lake Drive, Louisville, CO stated she is a student <br />of history and suggested a monument to the old Louisville Middle/High School be <br />part of the new building. <br />Denise Pfnister, 625 Sir Galalhad, Lafayette, CO stated her children attended <br />LMS. She voiced her confusion with the attempts to preserve the existing <br />school. She noted she was a Design Advisory Team member and stressed the <br />importance of educating children. <br />COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD AND COUNCIL MEMBER <br />Councilor Yarnell commentec'I that sadly, the facade will not be saved. She <br />supported the preservation of'the artifacts. <br />Board Member Patti Smith expressed her appreciation for the discussion <br />however she did not hear anything compelling enough to change the design or <br />the budget. She appreciated the proposal to save the bricks. <br />Councilor Muckle asked if they Board of Directors and the Louisville City Council <br />could agree to work together to preserve the historical value of the school. <br />Board Member Reed stated he was willing to entertain the committee suggested <br />by Mr. Leary. <br />Board Member Paxton was irnpressed by the passion, which was expressed by <br />the public. She voiced her appreciation to the Design Advisory Team who <br />worked on the design. She stressed the public should honor the <br />recommendation of the Design Advisory Team and the decision of the Board of <br />Education. <br />
