This evaluation will be done
not only with access to US 36 but also access
within the tri-cities area.
Also in their evaluation process they do not
want travel time to increase from Boulder
to Denver but they must also evaluate the
mobility within the tri-cities area. They
are assuming that by the year 2000 US 36
between Broomfield and I-25 will be 6 lanes.
These are likely projections that maybe in
place by the year 2000. They can't say for
certain because funding is uncertain. This
is a likely scenario in terms of future road-
way network.
Councilman Luce commented that he would
request that they examine the issue of,
if US 36 is not enlarged to 6 lanes, what
the impact of adding another interchange
versus not adding it would have.
Mr. Yoshioka stated that he felt this could
incorporated very easily into the analysis
that they have planned. One of the things
that they will be evaluating is what is
the trade-off between the tri-cities mobility
and the US mobility?
Councilman Leary Commented it was his understanding that there
Federal Requirements is a serious question if there are any
federal requirements on US 36 since it was
not built with federal funds.
Mr.Yoshioka stated that they were not con-
sidering an interchange closer than 1
mile to an existing interchange which is
one of the federal requirements.
Land Use Mr. Yoshioka stated the way land use assump-
tions were handled were to ask all the users
involved - the County of Boulder, the City
of Broomfield, and the City of Louisville.
They also got input from the City of Lafayette
to project what the year 2000 land use pro-
jections would be for population and employ-
ment. He felt this adhered very closely
to the comp plan of each jurisdiction.
Mr. Leary stated he felt that the consul-
tants should be cautious in determing an
implementation plan with regard to land
use as there are some serious land use
