Mr.
Krueger commented that if Council did feel
that an increase is needed he would suggest
that the increase be placed at 60%, instead
of the 80% until more research can be done.
He stated that Lafayette's fees are 54%,
Broomfield - 60%, Longmont - 66%, and
Bou:Lder - 80%. Also stated that Boulder's
single family tap fee is about one-fourth
that of Louisville's.
Mr. Krueger stated other cities do have a
separate fee for landscaping taps and they
are based on the size of the meter and the
demand placed on the meter. It as his under-
standing that Mr. Kasch's figures of 80% of
the single family tap fee did include land-
scape usage.
Bill Butler, Columbine Homes Mr. Butler referred to the last page of the
letter he had provided Council and explained
their computation of water usage in relation
to :landscaped area and the number of people
in multi-family units versus single family
units. The number of people who purchase
a multi-family unit is 1.7 opposed to a
single family unit of 2.85 which would dictate
60% usage. He too suggested that this figure
be placed at 60% in the ordinance.
Mayor Meier continued the public hearing and
asked if there were any further public comments
for or against Ordinance No. 832. - None.
Council questions and comments.
At the request of Councilman Cussen, Attorney
Rautenstraus stated in the absence of Mr.
Kasch, the discussion that he had with him,
Mr. Kasch basically confirmed what Mr. Krueger
had said - that normally the 80% would seem
to be an appropriate figure including usage
both by the residents and for the landscaping.
Mr. Kasch then said the suggestion might be
that on an individual case by case with
each multi-family development, we review to
see whether there should be possibly an addi-
tional fee charged for the landscaping tap
in case it was an overly large amount, etc.
Councilwoman Johnson and Councilman Fauson
preferred that the ordinance be tabled until
staff had researched the 80% figure.
Councilman Cussen suggested that perhaps
