5. KASCH That tie-in without retiring the existing basin, will show how this entire system will function. Once that is accomplished, they will tie-in through an alternate means, into plant number 1. If all goes well, and they are very confident that it will, that the contigency plan drawn up will have plant number 1, the older plant and 2 treating high quality water by August 15th, 1984. The approved fast-tracking system, the naw back-wash pumping station., currently located in plant number one, with the additional piping, metering and pumping will allow the city the 5.5 mgd capacity. He also noted that some of the mechanical items had arrived on Saturday. Included was a letter from Rocky Mountain Consultants which stated that 90~ completed on the drawing and fast-tracking the engineering. They will be meeting with mechanical and concrete contractors later. this week to get some preliminary costs to get that job expedited. The date fox the hydraulic improvements is set for the 15th. The other two requests included in the July 3rd memo, are the consolidation of the piping from the plant to the various parts of the city. The other is a back- wash recyclation MEIER Mayor Meier noted that the watering on Monday created some water pressure problems. Kasch Mr. Kasch noted that the 3 day moritorium allowed the tanks to refill, however on Monday everyone was given "a little shot". This created problems hydraulically as you can just put so much water through a pipe and due to the high demand, there was a problem with water pressure. The lower ends of the system had great pressure while the people on the higher end of the system had none. People complaining about ~bor water pressure or lack of pressure where instructed by staff when they called City offices that they may water a little just to catch up. However they should notify their neighbors of this. Mr. Kasch suggested that people just use good common sense, and neighborhood coopera- tion. He felt very confident that the 323 off program will work. Kasch This is the purpose of the off day. The off day also allows for some general maintenance of the plant. Morris Ms. Morris asked if that would mean that the city would be without water? Kasch No, there would be water but not necessarily for irrigation of lawns. Leary Councilman Leary asked Mr. Kasch it he fore- saw any water pressure problems for those on the high system?
