Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />July 5, 2017 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Council Study Session on July 25th. The Commission talked about the designs presented by <br />Roybal and the Museum needs that need to be met by the new building. Commission <br />members noted that most of the comments received so far center on the facade of the <br />proposed new building and that there has been an overall positive response to the <br />proposed interior layout and how it would function and support the Museum. Commission <br />members expressed an interest in helping the Roybal firm develop a revised design that <br />will have the support of a large part of the community and also discussed how the final <br />decision and approval of the conceptual design is up to the City Council. <br />VIII. Planning for Upcoming Study Session with City Council — July 25, 2017: <br />Roybal will be giving the presentation of the conceptual designs to the City Council during <br />the study session. The Commission does not need to give a presentation, but are <br />encouraged to attend the study session on the 25th <br />IX. Labor Day Parade Planning with Foundation and others (Labor Day is Sept. 4th): <br />The Commission discussed ideas for the parade. One suggestion was to wear Foundation <br />shirts and walk the parade this year. The Commission decided to give the lead on the <br />planning for the Labor Day Parade to the Historical Foundation. <br />X. Pioneer Award process & 2017 Commission meeting schedule: <br />Bridget asked for confirmation on the process for the selection of the next Pioneer <br />Award recipient, since the Commission had decided to follow the procedures that <br />were adopted earlier this year starting in 2018. The Commission confirmed that at the <br />September meeting the Commission members should make nominations for the <br />Pioneer Award, and then make the final selection of the recipient at the November <br />meeting. <br />XI. Chairperson's Report: No report <br />XII. Items of common interest with the Historic Preservation Commission: reports from <br />HPC liaison to HC and HC liaison to HPC: No report <br />XIII. Louisville History Foundation update: There is no update from the History Foundation. <br />XIV. Commission comments & discussion items for next meeting: The Commission decided to <br />move the date of the next Commission meeting from Sept. 6th to Sept. 14th. Bridget said <br />that she would reserve a City meeting room and notify the Commission of the location. <br />XV.
