Library Board of Trustees <br />Meeting Minutes—DRAFT <br />July 6, 2017 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Construction of a medical office building is about to begin, and townhouses are well underway. <br />More commercial construction should begin soon. <br />C. Library Foundation liaison report (R. Gurganus) <br />Renee noted that members of the Library Foundation have volunteered to sell books at various <br />events including the Farmers' Market and the Superior ChiliFest. The next meeting of the <br />Foundation is on August 22, 2017. <br />D. Little Libraries Sign-up <br />Jeannie passed out the sign-up sheet that covers the remainder of the year. <br />E. Outreach <br />1) Realtors <br />Jeannie, Helana, Beth, and Bernadine Brumfield (Foundation), met with Elizabeth <br />Ryterski (EEtL RE/MAX) to talk about realtor sponsorship of Read, Baby, Read, as well as <br />other opportunities to help get out information about the Library to new arrivals to <br />Louisville and Superior. <br />Jeannie mentioned coming up with a branding theme to include on a sticker. She will talk <br />to a CU graphic design student she knows about working on a design. <br />2) Read, Baby, Read <br />Amy Moynihan of the Louisville Library Foundation has prepared a PowerPoint <br />presentation to share with the Avista Hospital Foundation about the program. The hope is <br />that the Avista Foundation will partner with the Library Foundation to help fund and <br />support this program for Louisville and Superior newborns. <br />The Board also discussed various ways to incentivize parents to come to the Library, one <br />of which was to offer another free book if they bring the first RBR book with them. <br />Jeannie brought up the subject of including a sticker with a catchy phrase. The Board <br />liked the idea, and Jeannie will talk to a CU graphic design student about working on this <br />as a volunteer project. <br />Conor mentioned including a home birth collective into the program. He will provide the <br />name of the midwife organization. <br />3) Superior ChiliFest: September 9, 2017, 2-6pm <br />The Library has reserved a table at this event and members of the Board discussed <br />staffing. The Library will also showcase some of the non-traditional items that circulate, <br />such as telescopes. <br />4) Farmers' Market <br />The Board will continue its participation at some Farmers' Markets this summer and will <br />again highlight Makerspace programs and hand out Make -and -Take kits prepared by <br />Library staff. Members volunteered to staff the July 15 and August 5 events. Megan <br />Fantinelli and Mary Van Zale of the Library Foundation will be there to promote the <br />Foundation and run a used book sale. <br />
