Louisville City Council Meeting <br />June 1, 2004 <br />Page 10 of 12 <br /> <br />following six intersections: Washington Ave at McCaslin; Lafayette St. at Via Appia; S. <br />Boulder Road at Eisenhower/Ridgeway; Pierce Ave at Dillon Road; Dillon Road at St. <br />Andrews; and Highway 42 at Hecla. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment. <br /> <br />Derk Norton, 597 W Pine Street, Louisville, CO, reported on an accident, which occurred <br />one year ago at the intersection of W Pine Street and Via Appia. He stated the vision <br />clearance at sunset is very poor at this intersection. <br /> <br />Gerry Christensen, 778 Owl Court, Louisville, CO distributed two documents, which he <br />prepared. He stated the consultant's sampling was for one day, and therefore, was too <br />small and could not constitute a typical day. He requested information on the 2002 traffic <br />study, which was authorized by the City. He requested that Council delay the action on <br />the study and stated the speed limit on Via Appia is the issue that should be addressed. <br /> <br />Suzanne Smith, 902 Grove Drive, Louisville, CO, stated if the traffic light is approved, <br />the intersection should be mitigated in some way, and suggested closing down the access <br />to Tyler. She voiced her support for a traffic signal light at Washington. <br /> <br />Evelyn Queen, 641 Pine Street, Louisville, CO, voiced her opposition to a traffic light at <br />Via Appia and Pine Street, and stated the street was designed to prohibit through traffic <br />and Tyler Street was designed to be the through street. <br /> <br />Tom Mayer, 581 Wildrose Street, Louisville, CO voiced his opposition to a traffic light at <br />Pine Street and Via Appia and his concem for safety issues of a signal light. He stated <br />traffic lights attract traffic. He noted the area is heavily populated with children playing. <br />He also objected to the flashing pedestrian lights at the Recreation Center and suggested <br />an underpass at Via Appia. He urged Council to give this matter more consideration. <br /> <br />Chip Weincek, 672 W. Pine Street, Louisville, CO, addressed the public meetings where <br />public input was given, such as speed bumps, and tumarounds. He stated none of the <br />input or suggestions were incorporated into the traffic study recommendations. He polled <br />his neighbors relative to their thoughts about the traffic signal at West Pine Street and Via <br />Appia, and submitted the survey to the Council. <br /> <br />Carolyn Markham, 1315 Franklin Avenue, Louisville, CO, stated the major problem is <br />speeding cars along Via Appia, and suggested lowering the speed limit along Via Appia <br />and adding traffic signal lights at Pine and Tyler Streets. <br /> <br />John Kirk, 652 W. Pine Street, Louisville, CO, distributed a plat map to members of <br />Council and cited regulations from the Uniform Traffic Control manual. He stated there <br />is no evidence that a traffic signal will not reduce accidents along Via Appia. <br /> <br />Heidi Morgan, 644 West Pine Street, Louisville, CO expressed her concern over the <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
