Cityg
I
Louisville
COLORADO . SINCE 1878
Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: October 21, 2017
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report
The Museum recently had its largest attendance for any one month. In the month of
September, 501 people visited the Museum.
Thanks to funding from the City as part of its capital improvements projects budget, a new
furnace and air conditioning unit were recently installed in the Jacoe Store building at the
Museum to replace the aging units that were there. Also, there is funding from the City to
develop a new website for the Museum that would have a similar appearance as the Library
website. I've started to work on this project, which will help the public be able to easily access
the increasing amount of historical content and resources that we have been putting online.
Last, the City is in the process of hiring a new Museum Technician I to fill the open position.
Almost all of the Louisville Times issues from 1942 to 2007 are now digitized and keyword
searchable by going to www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org and looking under the Louisville
Times title. About 35 people attended the launch party on October 12th and we heard
wonderful stories about how people are already using this resource that was made possible
through City funding.
The annual Chamber of Commerce banquet at which the Commission will present the Pioneer
Award is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
As a reminder, the Roybal firm will make a presentation to City Council on the revised Museum
building conceptual design at a regular Council meeting in Council Chambers on December 5th.
hope that Commission members will be able to attend and comment.
Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not inquiries that
come in by email or phone): September visitors: 501; YTD: 2730.
