Business Retention and Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 2, 2017 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />V. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA: <br />NONE <br />VI. BUSINESS MATTERS OF THE COMMITTEE: <br />a. Economic Prosperity Program Goals and Key Indicators <br />DeJong presented the Program Goals and Key Indicators as requested from the <br />September meeting. <br />Comments from the Committee regarding potential measurables; New construction <br />delivered, Job Count, summary BAP activity. The Committee was interested in valuing <br />the perception of the City toward business, but would be a hard figure to measure. <br />b. City Development Costs and Fees <br />DeJong presented the prepared memo outlining the city's fees for development and <br />utilities to business. DeJong also summarized the impact fees in relation to neighboring <br />municipalities. The Committee would like to see the how the City's fees relate to <br />neighboring cities at a future meeting. <br />c. Louisville Industries Review <br />DeJong presented the data coordinated with Boulder Workforce Development. Notable <br />results from the analysis were: <br />1. Of the largest and top growing industries, Instrument Manufacturing and <br />Computer Systems Design have earnings over $125,000 per year. <br />2. Louisville is relatively balanced among the two -digit NAICS code industry <br />classifications. Healthcare is the largest industry with an estimated 4,500 jobs in <br />the area. <br />3. Job growth is exceeding population growth for eastern Boulder County. <br />d. Business Survey <br />Budin and DeJong presented the draft business survey to the Committee. The reactions <br />from the Committee were; <br />1. Ask the macro questions first <br />2. Keep it brief to ensure respondents get through all the questions <br />3. Evaluate having a catch all question at the end <br />Budin and DeJong will incorporate comments and attempt to release the survey in <br />October. <br />VII. ED Update. Mr. DeJong provided an update on recent Louisville business / <br />economic events of note from the memo in the agenda packet. <br />VIII. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS. <br />
