II: City,/ Im Louisville COLORADO •SINCIi IH7S Open Space Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 Louisville Public Library: First Floor Meeting Room 951 Spruce Street 7:00 pm I. Call to Order- Helen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. II. Roll Call - Board Members Present: Helen Moshak, Laura Scott Denton, Missy Davis, Mike Schantz, Graeme Patterson, Jim Gibb, Fiona Garvin Board Members Absent: Linda Smith City Council Members Present: Jeff Lipton Staff Members Present: Ember Brignull III. Approval of Agenda - Laura moved to approve the agenda as written. Fiona seconded. The motion was passed unanimously. IV. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes - Mike moved to approve the minutes as written. Jim seconded. The motion was passed unanimously. V. Staff Updates - A. There was a volunteer event on Friday at Davidson Mesa. 30 citizens attended. They did trail work and weed control. B. Staff is working on the notifications for the prescribed burn at Aquarius Open Space. The burn is scheduled for Oct. 17 & 18, though these dates may change based on conditions. Staff is mailing postcards to neighbors, creating an email list for neighbors and schools, putting up a flashing road sign, and putting up signs on sandwich boards along Coal Creek Trail. Ember shared a copy of the signs with the board. All the appropriate attorneys have approved and paperwork should be signed tomorrow. Ember will do some plant composition work at the site so the effects of the fire can be documented. Jim asked if there had been any feedback from residents. Ember said staff will be doing face-to-face work with the neighbors this week, but she reported that the neighbors they've talked to so far are positive about the fire. C. There is discussion of putting up a nesting platform for osprey at Hecla Lake or Harper Lake and perch poles at Daughenbuagh. Ember reported that staff was concerned about possible aesthetic concerns. OSAB was very enthusiastic about the idea of a nesting platform. Fiona asked if osprey would mind the foot traffic at a place like Harper. Ember answered that ospreys seem to be tolerant of that kind of human traffic. The board recounted their stories of seeing osprey all over town. D. The Mayhoffer property purchase celebration will be this Friday at 3:30. Laura requested that staff reach out to past OSAB members and specifically invite them. E. Staff met with the geologic consultants yesterday. The final report on the Coyote Run land slump is due in October.
