Call to Order- Helen called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />II. Roll Call - <br />Board Members Present: Helen Moshak, Laura Scott Denton, Missy Davis, Mike <br />Schantz, Graeme Patterson, Jim Gibb, Fiona Garvin <br />Board Members Absent: Linda Smith <br />City Council Members Present: Jeff Lipton <br />Staff Members Present: Ember Brignull <br />III. Approval of Agenda - <br />Laura moved to approve the agenda as written. Fiona seconded. The motion <br />was passed unanimously. <br />IV. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes - <br />Mike moved to approve the minutes as written. Jim seconded. The motion was <br />passed unanimously. <br />V. Staff Updates - <br />A. There was a volunteer event on Friday at Davidson Mesa. 30 citizens <br />attended. They did trail work and weed control. <br />B. Staff is working on the notifications for the prescribed burn at Aquarius Open <br />Space. The burn is scheduled for Oct. 17 & 18, though these dates may change based <br />on conditions. Staff is mailing postcards to neighbors, creating an email list for <br />neighbors and schools, putting up a flashing road sign, and putting up signs on sandwich <br />boards along Coal Creek Trail. Ember shared a copy of the signs with the board. All the <br />appropriate attorneys have approved and paperwork should be signed tomorrow. <br />Ember will do some plant composition work at the site so the effects of the fire can be <br />documented. Jim asked if there had been any feedback from residents. Ember said <br />staff will be doing face-to-face work with the neighbors this week, but she reported that <br />the neighbors they've talked to so far are positive about the fire. <br />C. There is discussion of putting up a nesting platform for osprey at Hecla Lake <br />or Harper Lake and perch poles at Daughenbuagh. Ember reported that staff was <br />concerned about possible aesthetic concerns. OSAB was very enthusiastic about the <br />idea of a nesting platform. Fiona asked if osprey would mind the foot traffic at a place <br />like Harper. Ember answered that ospreys seem to be tolerant of that kind of human <br />traffic. The board recounted their stories of seeing osprey all over town. <br />D. The Mayhoffer property purchase celebration will be this Friday at 3:30. Laura <br />requested that staff reach out to past OSAB members and specifically invite them. <br />E. Staff met with the geologic consultants yesterday.
