Louisville COLORADO • S1NC CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA ITEM 6F SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE THIRD AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE AND W.L. CONTRACTORS, INC. FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE DATE: DECEMBER 5, 2017 PRESENTED BY: KURT KOWAR, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Staff recommends approval of an amendment for a one-year renewal term with W.L. Contractors for traffic signal maintenance. On November 12, 2013, the City entered into a contract with W.L. Contractors, Inc. ("WL") for traffic signal maintenance. The work performed by WL under the contract includes: preventative maintenance for traffic signals, pedestrian flashers, school zone flashers, speed radar units, and maintenance of the camera system at the North Water Treatment Plant. In addition, the contract includes work for unscheduled and emergency repairs and any extra work on the traffic signals and traffic related equipment as requested by the City. The 2013 contract included an original two year term with an option for three additional renewal terms of twelve months each. The City must approve each renewal in advance by a contract amendment. The initial two year term ended December 31, 2015 and was extended by two amendments through December 31, 2017. The annual costs for Traffic Signal Maintenance have been approximately $45,000. WL has agreed to maintain the 2013 prices for 2018. FISCAL IMPACT: The approved 2018 city budget for traffic signal maintenance activities will fund this contract. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the Third Amendment to the Traffic Signal Maintenance Contract to retain the services of W.L. Contractors, Inc. for the 2018 calendar year. The traffic signal maintenance contract will be rebid in 2018 for 2019-2020 services. ATTACHMENT(S): 1. Letter from WL Contractors 2.
